Glassford studied fine arts at the University of Texas at Austin concentrating in sculpture and after, focused on working in studio.

He began making furniture as scluptural work before moving to Mexico in 1996 where he honed his carpentry skills. Here he developed a deft touch for mixing textures, and an inclination for juxtaposing the ancient with modern, signature aspects of his style.

In 1998, Glassford relocated to Guadalajara and started crafting high-end furniture for the US market using traditional methods. He continued to produce his signature pieces while overseeing all design and marketing for the company.

After 20 years, he decided to start a company of his own, with fellow designer Isabel Moncada, and Glassford Moncada came to life.
